The most dangerous and safest cities in Europe have been named.

The European Commission recently released a report on quality of life in various cities. It also included a list of the most dangerous and safest places in Europe.

To prepare the report, experts surveyed hundreds of thousands of residents and expats from various countries. The results were somewhat predictable. Nevertheless.

Cities in Scandinavian countries were named the safest. Ljubljana, Bordeaux, Cluj-Napoca, Antalya, and others also made the list. The least safe were Rome, Naples, Athens, Liège, Marseille, Istanbul, and Sofia. More than half of their residents do not feel comfortable walking alone or at night.

A higher level of safety was noted in smaller cities with populations of up to 250,000. The situation is worse in cities with populations of over a million.

Interestingly, in some countries, the figures vary significantly between cities. For example, in France, 82% of Bordeaux residents said they felt safe, while in Marseille, only 43% did. Similar figures are found in Belgium (73% in Antwerp, 44% in Liège) and Turkey (44% in Istanbul, 80% in Antalya).
